Focus on detail C in the graph, the block below X axis is the spacer securing the cylinder on the aluminium profile, four hole is drilled for mounting cylinder and mount on the profile, slot is introduced for counter-boring.
Focus on detail D, which is the gripping mechanism,
except the finger inhered in the gripper, we extend the
finger by manufacturing aluminium block, drill several holes
for allocating the pin to secure the cable holder tool, the pin
is manufactured by lathe, using m3 screw to lathed into pin shape.
Focus on detail E, this is the aluminium block “YZ holder”, act as a mounting for the Z cylinder, CQMB16-30. When we design this mounting, we had considered different method to mount the cylinder, using angle aluminium profile or bend a aluminium plate into angle profile, we faced design difficulties, like plate bending can not provide sufficient thickness for counterboring in order to provide a flat platform for the cylinder to rest, even the suitable thickness material is found, but the bending become nearly impossible, also material fatique is introduced when the material is being bended. Therefore, we had designed a more complex part for this mounting, “T” shape prevent bending after long term use, also provide a small platform for cable trunk to mount on.

Summary In the stage of design, after we had considered from different aspects in terms of functionality, manufacturing and assemble difficulties, appearance, we had finalized the design and the dimension of different component, as well as the mounting method, and simulate the whole process in solidworks, not much big problem appeared in the simulation.
